I came home from running errands in this massive heat stew we call "outdoors", and called Weslee down to eat. See, on Fridays, I cater to his autism, get his REQUIRED donuts for the weekend (2 on Sat and 2 on Sun), and dinner.
He turned on the boob tube to watch "Descendants: The Rise of Red" while he ate. I guess it was released recently?
I happened to look up at the TV from my own meal and immediately lost it. At that exact moment, in the movie, a picture of 'Carlos' was shown on a wall. He was played by Cameron Boyce, who died from epilepsy (SUDEP).
Cameron died on July 6 2019, a couple of short weeks after Weslee came home from surgery and inpatient after-care, after a seizure surgery that led to experiencing massive brain bleeding, a stroke, coma, and then beginning of a long and partial recovery.
I haven't been able to separate the two events in my mind. My son's near death and Cameron's actual death are linked. Tied forever.
I really hope Cameron's family has found a measure of solace.
